World Cancer Day 2025 is on the 4th of February, 2025. The theme for this year, as well as for the next two years, is “United by Unique”. This campaign, led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), aims to place people at the centre of cancer care and explore new ways of making a difference.
The focus is on recognising that every experience with cancer is unique and that a people-centred approach to cancer care, which integrates each individual’s unique needs with compassion and empathy, leads to the best health outcomes. The campaign encourages everyone to unite to create a world where we look beyond the disease and see the person before the patient.

Employee Initiatives for World Cancer Day
1. Awareness Campaigns: Host information sessions or webinars with healthcare professionals to educate employees about cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment options.
2. Support Programs: Establish support groups or provide access to counselling services for employees affected by cancer, either personally or through a loved one.
3. Fundraising Activities: Organise charity runs, bake sales, or other fundraising events to support cancer research organisations. Encourage team participation to build camaraderie.
4. Healthy Workplace Initiatives: Promote healthy lifestyle choices by offering fitness classes, nutritious snacks, and wellness programs. Create a culture that values physical and mental health.
5. Flexible Work Policies: Provide flexible working arrangements for employees undergoing treatment or caring for family members with cancer. Show understanding and adaptability to their needs.
6. Story Sharing: Encourage employees to share their experiences with cancer in a safe and supportive environment. This can help raise awareness, reduce stigma, and build a community.
7. Volunteer Opportunities: Arrange volunteer days for employees to support local cancer organisations or hospitals. This can strengthen team bonds and make a positive impact on the community.
By putting employees at the heart of these activities, you can create a more compassionate and engaged workplace that makes a difference.
